The below link is to the American Maltese Association Web site - Excellent site.  Cream of the Crop breeders are on the American Maltese Association's List - The list costs $5.00 - Believe this list is mostly show breeders.  The list does need some updating; unfortunately some of the reputable breeders on this list are no longer breeding.    Please Read this Link before Buying a Maltese The below link will bring you to another web site.  I personally spoke with the owner of this site - called her to verify how reputable she is.  She is a free lance writer, not a breeder, and there is a lot of great info on her site.  She places calls to breeders to get a "feel" for said breeder.  If she feels the breeder is reputable, she will advertise for said breeder.  She does this for one breeder per state per breed.  Of course, she can not %100 say that the breeders she represents are reputable but she is giving more effort than most web sites.     Click Here for TEACUP Maltese Info!!! Did you know?   Maltese are commonly called "hypoallergenic" because they shed no more than you do.  But no dog is truly hypoallergenic.  Even a hairless dog can trigger allergic reactions in the most sensitive people because of antibodies on the dog's skin.  But Maltese are considered one of the best dogs for people with allergies.   Some historians believe the history of the Maltese breed is 6,000 years old which would make the Maltese the oldest breed known.  The breed is believed to have originated from the island of Malta which lies in the middle of the Mediterranean.
