First Litter Ever - Fender is a boy and 100% potty trained for a litter box.  Brian and Christy use crates, fences, proper commands.  This is what it takes guys for success.

August 2010 Puppies - Tracy came by Island Puppy Love Headquarters to see if we are what we say we are.  Well, Tracy has 2 of Island Puppy Love Babies - so each pup would have a friend.

Below is the emails about Tuna - Asked Mr. Ray and family to watch Tuna for ticks, believe they live in a wooded area and it was close to time to put his monthly Revolution on or some other type of protection. -

This is Greg`s dad, we are the ones that have Tuna.  He has adjusted very well and appears to call this home.  He is my wifes protector and guardian, anything or anyone he thinks is a threat to her is greeted with a bark or a growl.

We have not seen any fleas or ticks.  We check him when he gets his coat brushed every night.  I also check him at bath time which he does not like at all.

We plan on taking him today to the local vet. and get his shot and health record on file plus anything else he might need.  Will get whatever he recommends for flea and tick control.

Tuna is a great Pup, thanks for keeping us informed, he has a good home with people that love him.

Subject: Re: Tuna

Me again, just bathed our girl dogs and was thinking of Tuna and yall.  He is just like MaryAnn, she tries to be my protector.

Back to Tuna.  I bathe the dogs most of the time, so Tuna is not use to men bathing him.  I bathe them in our bath tub unless it is summer than they are bathed outside in a pool.  Make sure the water is not too cold or too hot - they freak when it is not the right temp.  We have a shower head that can be hand held.  I use the low water pressure on it when bathing them, they freak if the pressure is too high.  Angle the shower head away from their face at all times, if it gets in their face, they freak.  Just wipe his face with a wash clothe and water.  When it is winter time, I put a heater in the bath room to heat it up - they hate the cold.  Tuna was a great pup around here but he did have the punk attitude.  He loved me bunches, they all do.

Just things to help out - I am learning as I go along.  I love our dogs, they are odd little creatures; they are not like any dog I have ever had - they are very personal and smart.

Merry Christmas,

Ann Marie

This is Mr. Ray's response to the bathing info -

Washed his face first with a cloth and used baby shampoo so it would not burn his eyes.  He was fine with that and had very little problem giving him his bath.  After he was dried he attacked my shirt that I had pulled off when I bathed him..  Was really funny but he calmed down and gave me a big kiss.  Could not have a better pup.  We love him very much and he is totally at home now and master of his domain.

Mrs.Jane called a couple of months ago; her and husband have Lil' Beach Girl.  Lil' Beach Girl is known as Sunshine now.  A nun from Providence Hospital suggested Jane get a Maltese for her husband.  Her husband, Jack needed his spirits lifted some.  Well, Jane stated, "It is as if Sunshine was made for us."  Jane also said that Sunshine has provided them with many smiles.

Below is the last email received from Kelly.  Kelly and family have Sand Island Babe.  Sand Island Babe is known as Folly now.

It has been a few weeks since we brought her home and can't imagine not having her.  Folly has adjusted really well.  I think she might have been confused at first as to what was going on, but she really made the transition well.  I think the hardest part has been training her where to go to the bathroom.  She still has some accidents in the house but for the most part that is going fine.    She loves to play outside with the kids.  She loves to run and play chase.

She is such a cutie - we are very pleased with her.

Thanks again,

Kelly

Spoke with Susan this month, December.  Susan has Lil' Beach Boy and he is know as Breezy now.  Susan wanted to know if we spoiled Breezy as a pup.  Susan stated he is a perfect little man and it looks like he will be 6 pounds as an adult; we thought he was going to be 6 1/2 pounds.  Breezy is potty trained too.  Seems the boy pups are potty training better than the girl pups.  Received a picture of Breezy on 12/21/10 from Susan and family- his picture is on page 3 of previous puppies.  He is a top notch Maltese.  It takes a little while for the picture to load on page 3 but it is worth the wait.
